Introduction
Inspired by the legendary story of the great Sultan Muhamed Al-Fateh, Fateh Horology Sdn Bhd was originally founded in 2016 by Tuan Haji Zainal Mohd Ali, a passionate professional watch maker who last served in Taiwan. Being the pioneer in luxury counterclockwise watch in Malaysia, Fateh Horology envisioned to introduce and expand its presence not limited to Malaysia but all over the World.
Fateh Horology embodies the fusion of precision craftsmanship and cultural heritage in the world of timekeeping. Rooted in Malaysia and driven by the pursuit of excellence, Fateh Horology stands at the forefront of innovative watchmaking, incorporating advanced Swiss technology with a distinct local identity. Meet The Founder
Tuan Haji Zainal Mohd Ali
Born in 1955 in Malacca, Tuan Haji Zainal received his early formal education in Segamat, Johor and Malacca. He attended a formal watch-making training at Stern Feres Fabrique de Cadrans in Geneva, Switzerland and started his career in watch-making industry soon after that.
Been a passionate watch maker for over 40 years, Tuan Haji Zainal had contributed to the design, manufacturing and quality compliances to numerous high-end famous watch brands such as RADO, Longines, Omega, Tissot, Hublot, Tag Hueur, Titoni, Certina, Raymond Weil, Oris, Dior, Frederic Constant, Corum, Meistersinger, Edox, Ebel, Swiss Army, Armani, Fossil, Fendi, Bvlgary, etc.
Early Training at Stern Frères
This 1970 photograph shows Tuan Haji Zainal at 24 during his training at Stern Frères in Geneva, Switzerland. Renowned for producing high-quality watch dials and components, Stern Frères provided the foundation for him to specialise in dial manufacturing, gaining expert knowledge and invaluable experience that shaped his journey in the horology industry.
Master and Apprentice
This photo, taken around 2012–2013, shows Tuan Haji Zainal with his apprentice, Jörg Bader, son of the owner of Christopher Ward. During this time in Taiwan, they specialised in dial manufacturing, combining mentorship with international expertise. Their collaboration exemplifies a shared commitment to precision, quality, and advancing the craft of horology.
Impact on Manufacturing in Taiwan
This 2009 photo captures Tuan Haji Zainal in Taiwan, where he managed timepiece assembly and manufacturing. Leading 2,000 employees, he cut the rejection rate by 95% and doubled production from 150,000 to 300,000 units per month. Originally hired as a consultant in 2003, his expertise extended his tenure until 2016, solidifying his impact on the company.
Showcasing Watchmaking Mastery
This picture, taken in 2021, shows Tuan Haji Zainal modifying, cleaning, and assembling a watch movement. He demonstrated the intricate processes to the media, highlighting the meticulous craftsmanship involved. During this time, he also shared his expertise with his son, ensuring that the knowledge and appreciation of the craft would be passed down to the next generation.

In 2018, En Fitry Zainal stepped into Fateh Watches to continue what his father, Tuan Haji Zainal, had built, a legacy rooted in decades of horological expertise. With a design background from UiTM and early career experience in creative industries, he brought a fresh vision to match his father’s technical mastery.
For En Fitry, Fateh is a bridge between heritage and modern luxury. Guided by values of craftsmanship, identity, and exclusivity, he strives to create timepieces that meet Swiss standards while telling Malaysia’s story on a global stage.
As the second generation, he views himself as both a guardian of the legacy and a builder of the future. His vision goes beyond designing watches: to establish Malaysia’s first Institute of Horology, inspire the next generation, and position Malaysia among the world’s leaders in fine watchmaking.
Through milestones and challenges alike, his journey is defined by resilience, and each Fateh timepiece carries that same spirit of ambition, heritage, and timeless refinement.
